Stortemelk
Our tripsThere are no limits to your wishes.
And if you are planning a special trip, ask us, we will be happy to advise you! Experience in sailing comes in handy but is not necessary. Gradually the enthusiastic crew teaches you the ins and outs of sailing, navigation, nature etc.
Charter the Stortemelk – which offers enough space for 22 overnight guests and 45 day guests – with your family, friends or business partners for a maritime adventure. Whether for one or more weeks, a weekend or a day trip. Enjoy a unique maritime adventure together with friends, relatives, social clubs, students’ societies, or business friends on board of our ship.
Day trips
We usually offer these short sailing trips at harbor festivals such as the “Kiel Week” and the “Hanse Sail” in Rostock. But also outside of these festivals you can charter the ship for a nice day on the water. The ‘Stortemelk’ offers sleeping-accommodation for 22 passengers, while 45 guests can join us on board during day-trips. Our crew warmly welcomes you so that you can find your place safely and comfortably on deck or in our cozy mess. You can charter the whole ship and organize everything yourself, or let the crew or an appropriate catering company take care of you. We would be happy to advise you on the creation of your individual day trip.
As with our longer trips, you can also lend a hand on such “trial days” when setting the sails and lifting the sails, or you steer the right course – the team will of course support you.
Individual tours
Every season we offer sailing tours especially for individual guests. For these tours, or sometimes even legs of these tours, you can embark alone, with a friend, or even with a small group. We aim to visit special and usually further away ports in these tours.
In 2004 the individual tour had the ‘Hanze’ theme. In this tour we visited the historic cities of Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Gdansk in Poland and the picturesque islands of Hiddensee and Rügen. Besides the pleasure of sailing, this particular tour offered a great opportunity for sight seeing at some beautiful historic locations. Our guests always had enough time to explore the traditional Hanseatic cities. Impressive sailing romance paired with Hanseatic culture.

Weekendtrips
You went on a day trip with the Stortemelk, or a friend recommended us. Have you become curious and would like to get a taste of sailing on a schooner with friends?
A normal or long weekend is ideal. You will come on board on Friday evening and we will set sail on Saturday morning. After a little introduction to safety and the sails, we set sail and enjoy the wind.
On Sunday we will drive back to the port of departure, where we will arrive around 4:00 p.m.
If you have a specific desired date, please inquire in good time.
Trips for a week
Would you like your trip to go a little further away? Discover new islands and cities? Then the week trip is the ideal time for your sailing trip. We plan the trip before departure with the latest weather reports and wind forecasts so that we can get to the port of destination on time on the last day of sailing. When planning, we try to avoid long journeys under the engine.
You can choose from different time periods as long as the dates are still available:
- 5 days – 4 nights: monday to friday
- 7 days – 6 nights: monday to sunday or saturday to friday
- 10 days – 9 nights: saturday to sunday
In the case of long journeys, we also offer appropriate overnight stays so that the journey on the first day of sailing can also start relaxed in the morning – ask us!
